JOOSTENS Paul. Sluts. Le quart d'heure de rage ou soleil san - Lot 90
JOOSTENS Paul. Sluts. Le quart d'heure de rage ou soleil sans chapeau. Anvers, Édition Ça Ira, 1922, booklet in 8, paperback, silver-suede paper cover illustrated with an original linocut by the artist. Complete with the 2 original linocuts inserted in the issue, one of which is stamped P). First edition. Ornaments and 6 off-text linocuts drawn and engraved by the author. Edition of 125 numbered copies on vellum: one of 100 numbered copies (this one unnumbered) after 25 copies on pur fil lafuma vellum. The silver mixed with the paper on the cover gives, with time and oxidation, reflections that add to the mystery of the linocut. This is the same process used for the covers of the first issues of Sélection magazine, to which Paul Joostens also contributed. Belgian Dadaist book published by the magazine Ça Ira, written and illustrated by the painter Paul Joostens (1889-1960), one of the leading exponents of the Antwerp avant-garde. Personal copy of Paul Joostens, who noted on the title page in blue crayon: Pré-avangardiste 1916, requires unofficial valuation at 05. And under the publishing date: 1954) That's enough. Also noted in blue ballpoint pen: Rendez vous Art Contemporain Août prochain. Some foxing on one of the linocuts and museum restorations on the very fragile cover.
