[BRETON André] Anthologie de l'humour noir: vitrine, 1947. Vintage silver print, 225 x 128 mm. Photograph of a showcase designed by Bernard Gheerbrant for the Exposition Internationale du Surréalisme 1947 at the Aimé Maeght gallery. "I was called by Breton when we realized that the twenty-one steps access to the second floor and the "surrealists in spite of themselves" exhibition He asked me in extremis to set up a display case at the foot of the stairs, devoted to the authors listed in the Anthology of Black Humor. I had to find first editions and portraits of characters such as Allais, Duchamp, Kafka, Jarry, Roussel, Swift, not forgetting the famous photograph of the Surrealist group, the young Gisèle Prassinos facing the robust musculature of Arthur Cravan."
