Nous Gens d'Espagne is a self-published collection of poems which, despite the large print run, was kept in the printer's cellars, which were flooded. This explains the omnipresent foxing. A precious copy with a dedication by the author: For my esteemed / Sant-Martinez / with the expression of / my friendship, / Nancy Cunard / Jan-1950. Julian Sanz-Martinez (1897-1988) was a Spanish archaeologist, historian, scholar, researcher, collector, painter, mason and Republican. In 1936, he went into exile in France, where he maintained ties with the leading figures of the French intelligentsia, including Arp, Tzara and Duchamp. Enclosed: a handwritten letter from Nancy Cunard (pasted on the back cover) announcing that she has set aside a copy of his latest work.
