BRETON André. LOIN D'ORLY. - Lot 24
BRETON André. LOIN D'ORLY. Paris, March 23, 1960: signed autograph manuscript, 2 pp. in-4 (270 x 210 mm), in ink, on the verso of a letterhead for the EROS exhibition at Galerie Daniel Cordier. Written on the occasion of the publication of Léon Trotsky's Journal d'Exil, this text appeared in n°12 of Bief before being reprinted in Perspective Cavalière. "At a time when "Mister K" [Khrushchev] - as they say - is setting foot on the soil of this country, irresistibly my hand goes to Leon Trotsky's Diary of Exile, which has just been published." "The ideals of '93 survived the squall of Thermidor and the thick Napoleonic tread. It is with this soothing certainty that I open the Journal d'Exil to this passage from Trotsky's testament (February 27, 1940)." "On this March 23, 1960, greetings to Leon and Natalie Trotsky."
